What if there is no sound output on MX Player?

In the recent version of MX Player, DTS & DOLBY audio codec supports have been removed from the official MX Player. If the video that you are trying to watch has DTS/DTS-HD/AC-3/ E-AC-3/MLP audio tracks, it won't be able to play any audio.

Try to follow the instructions given in this link to install a plug-in for audio codec: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/mx-player-custom-codec-dts-support-t2156254

Note: If you are not sure which plug-in to download, just download the All-in-One pack (AIO).

what optimized version of mx player are you using? Why are you using DS video instead of shared folder access with something like ES File Explorer? I have a synology too and it works

PS, now I'm using VLC as mediaplayer

I'll have toch check for the version of mx player but I already installed multiple-codexen to test it.

I want to use DS video because one remix is for a family member and 'shared folder access' will not work in this case.
So if I get DS video + a mediaplayer to work then I can even take my remix on holiday and stream my movies to it.

btw: I am using Kodi at home (remix mini <-> NAS) and it is working perfectly but I haven't got 'ftp' or 'webdav' to work.

Otherwise my problem would also be fixed.

Even with aio audio codec I don't get audio. I can hear audio only if I switch to sw decoder but then video stutters a lot.

After trying MX Player (video decoded ok, but no sound--all my videos have AC3 sound tracks), VLC (sound ok, but very bad video decoding, with both hardware and software decoding--although VLC works smoothlessly on my android tablet and smartphone), and several other players I can't remember the name at the moment (same issue with sound like MX Player), I'm now using Kodi as well, and till now it works ok.
