How to use "vga" command to set resolution in kernel?

If your graphic card is not well supported by Remix OS for PC, please try to change resolution.

 

This tutorial has two parts:

A) How to change resolution for flash driver case 

B) How to change resolution for hard drive case

 

How to change resolution for flash driver case 

 

1)Select USB boot and enter the "Resident/Guest Mode Menu"

 

2) Press "Tab" and you will see a command line shows at the bottom of the screen. Type Space " " and then type "vga=ask"

 

3) Press "Enter" and you will see a sentence. Press "Enter" again to see all the resolution options.

 

4) Choose a resolution by type the "Mode number". In this case, I type "314" to choose "800*600*16" as my resolution.

 

 5) Press "Enter" to boot with the chosen resolution.

 

** Note that some PC may not run the resolution you choose. Give a try for different options. 

 

 

How to change resolution for hard drive case

 

1) During boot, run Remix OS and you will see the following sentence and press "Esc".

 

2) Under the following screen, press "e" to edit the current command.

 

3) You will see a menu list. Press down to select the second option and press "e" to edit.

 

4) At the end of the command line, type Space " " and then type "vga=ask" as following, and then press "Enter":

 

5) Your command has been saved. Now you will be back to the previous screen. Now you can boot by pressing "b".

 

6)You will stop at a screen as following. Press "Enter" to see all the options.

 

7) Among the resolution options, choose a resolution by type the "Mode" number as below. In this case, I type "314" to choose "800*600*16"

 

8) Press "Enter" to continue the boot process.

 

** Note that some PC may not run the resolution you choose. Give a try for different options.

    I dont understand what is this command for?
    I've setto lower resolution but it still change back to 1920*1080 after i press enter.

    It works for me, but now my Remix OS is excruciatingly slow when using my monitor's maximum resolution. I will attempt a lower resolution.

    Hello,

     

    It stil doesn't work for me either. I've tried every option. Please fix this.

     

    vga=ask doesn't do anything.

    U rooted ( Tải về công cụ RMX Tools ở đây) then setup TexdroidDPI at  Play Store. and  adjust display

    Hi Guys,

    Just started playing with Remix on a Dell Dimension 5150 Desktop... Remix won't save vga resolution setting I have to type the command every time I reboot into the OS. The OS is installed on the hard drive. Any advice pls?
